» Vodafone updating update.
11 Aug, 2010 - 7:04 AM - by m@rtyn

A recent Android update for owners of the Vodafone branded HTC Desire, left a lot of customers with a nasty little surprise. Instead of the awaited upgrade to Android 2.2 (FroYo), what they got was Android 2.1 with even more branding and the addition of many megabytes worth of bloatware, including links to dating web-sites and Vodafones "360 App store" (which isn't on-line as yet).

This resulted in a storm among the customers and forum members in the Vodafone forum. Forum members were rightly very put off that the update was so full of branding and bloatware, and also that it wasn't as expected, the FroYo upgrade.... [Read More]

05 Aug, 2010 - 4:31 PM - by m@rtyn
It is no longer illegal to jailbreak your iPhone or iPod. In the US, the US Copyright Office decreed that Apples claim that copyright was being infringed was incorrect and "The user is not engaging in any commercial exploitation of the firmware, at least not when the jailbreaking is done for the user's own private use of the device."

» Android 2.2 ready to roll. Today?
29 Jul, 2010 - 4:28 AM - by m@rtyn
Good news for HTC Desire owners. According to the European boss of HTC, Mark Moons, Android 2.2 should be ready for download today (29.07.2010). This was in a "tweet" he posted yesterday, so let's hope that the boss-man has got his facts right. Apparently, the update form 2.1 to 2.2 should be fairly painless. So all you Desire owners out there, let us know if it is available and if the update went well.
