Default Resco Explorer 2010 released.

Press-release from Resco about their new Resco Explorer 2010:

Bratislava, Slovakia (January 26, 2010), Resco, a supplier of Windows Phone applications and one of the leading mobile software developers officially announced the release of Resco Explorer 8.0, new version of a popular file manager uniting and utilizing all the key features of each Windows Mobile device.

Most of the changes go head to head with improvements of not a long time released new version of Resco Photo Manager. Resco team enriched Explorer with the popular feature of uploading images to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, Picasa, MySpace and Photobucket. Next main improvement is the introduction of thumbnails view mode. This new mode simplifies work with the image folders. It improves navigation and helps to find the right image. Another big issue; users will be able to recognize interaction with the Photo Manager. The thumbnail loading will become faster and Explorer will support more image file types if users install both programs. The last improvement affects Explorer’s Today plug-in. The old one has been replaced by a new totally customizable plug-in with Task Manager and other handy tools.

“Resco Explorer is one of the very first apps I install on my Windows phone!” said Matt Coddington from Windows Mobile Louisville. “I love the finger-friendly navigation, the ability to have Favorites, the FTP and Registry add-ins... I could go on and on! This is an app I like to show off to iPhone users and say, “Can you do THIS?””

Resco Explorer is the best selling file manager on Windows Mobile Market. Moreover, the fully touch-optimized application provides functions of a launcher, viewer, zipper, registry editor, ftp explorer & network browser. It is a true Swiss knife for daily use of each Windows Mobile user.
New features in Explorer 2010
Image Upload to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, Picasa, MySpace and Photobucket
— the program is now able to upload image files to the most popular social networks including the largest web image database — Flickr.
Thumbnails View Mode
— The new view mode displays previews of images. It becomes handy (improves the navigation) while seeking in folders with many image files.
Interaction with Resco Photo Manager
— The new Explorer can utilize tools and strengths of Resco Photo Manager. If users have both of these programs installed on a device, they will sense that the thumbnail loading is faster as well as the fact that it supports all the photo manager image types.
Totally Customizable Today Plug-in
— Today plug-in gets new shape and becomes totally customizable — add or remove phone tools, applications or documents. The eventual size of the plug-in, therefore, depends only on your choices.

There is a free 7 day trial of Resco Explorer 2010 available at the above url, so you can give it a try without having to buy. Anyone who has already used Resco Explorer 8 will know that it is probably the ultimate explorer for your Windows Mobile phone.

Not actually had a chance to sit down and get to grips with the latest version as yet, but I am expecting great things of it all the same. From what I have tried, I can say that the user interface is fairly unchanged from v8 (which makes using it a doddle if you are used to v8 already). But then again, Resco Explorer has always been easy to use. That being one of the reasons that it is SO good.

It costs $29.95 (currently £18.53 or €21.30) which is a bit pricey. However, you also get the wonderful Resco Registry Editor and FTP Explorer as par of the package. So when you take that into account, it's not really as expensive as it sounds. And you are getting a well put together piece of software that is tried, tested and trusted!

EDIT: Just had some new info from Lukas at Resco. If you bought Resco Explorer within the last 12 months, the up-grade to Explorer 2010 is FREE!! And if you are up-grading but bought your version more than 12 months ago, you pay only 50% of the normal price. That's an offer you can't afford to pass up! Thanks to Lukas for the information
