Default Then and now

Just a quick walk down Memory Lane. Not far, only a mere 10 years (OK, for me, it's not that long ago). Remember the early days of the Pocket PC? Here is a small reminder of what, in 2000, was at the bleeding edge of mobile technology.

And just to have a wee bit of comparison, here is also an infomercial for the HTC HD2

About the only thing these two have in common is the 65K colour display, though of course, the resolution has since much improved. Remember your first mobile phone? I first went mobile back in 1996 and had a Philips mobile (do they even make phones these days?). Display was a one line LCD and the phone book had room for up to 100 names and numbers!! It even had a pull out antenna.

Feel free to have a ramble down your memory lane and reminisce about it here. Remember when Raider was called Marathon? Or something from back "then" that you want to compare with "now"? Something that makes you go "Ahh, those were the days!"

My first mobile was an Orange Nokia 5.1 (see http://mobiles.users.netlink.co.uk/n51.htm). I think I still have it somewhere!

It was in the days when SMS text messaging was an un-metered free service which nobody had ever heard of and didnt realise phones could do - if you got an SMS your first thought was that it was some kind of billing service update from the operator!

I remember ordering the Nokia out of The Sun newspaper. Can't remember what tariff or what was included.........

Well my first mobile was a Sony before the Ericsson days a CMH333.

it was actually really rather dinky for the time and then I upgraded to a Motorola which was horrible and I realised what a great phone the Sony was.

Other things I have still in my posession although I can't find it right now is the original GameBoy which still works and I have about 25 games for it still.

So I can take a trip down memory lane from time to time. This was when they still put more into game play rather than eye candy.

Really can't remember what my first mobile was, only that I got it in the late 90s and it was a Sony.

Anybody remember "Quattro", a multi-juice flavour fizzy from the 80s?
