Brandon Miniman at PocketNow.com has just released a new comparison video, comparing the four major phone operating systems: iPhone, WinMo, Android & WebOS. And as usual, it is chock full of great info about all four. So, apart from the phones themselves, which OS do you prefere (assuming that you could install any OS onto any phone you wanted)?

I'm still a fan of WinMo because...
iPhone works well but you can only get what THEY want you to have, unless you 'jailbreak' it which is dodgy at best. Android has potential but feels 'young' and not the easiset to navigate. Not used WebOS so can't comment Which only leaves WinMo which can simulate all of the above so why change? |

Got to be WinMo...
Bored of the restrictions of any other, and like to try the modifications that the Devs come up with.

I think that is what I am most likely going to miss with Windows Phone 7 Series. The flashing and modding with Devs software.

None of the above
![]() I have finally decided to retire my trusty old Orbit and ditch Windows Mobile (no bad thing given M@rtyns description of Windows Mobile 7). I have gone for Maemo 5 on the Nokia N900. I ordered it from CarPhone Warehouse (bit wary of them but they offered one of the best prices - http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/buy...00-PAGCN-WEB10) It should be here tomorrow. If I get the time I'll post a short review/opinion for the regulars here (no point in giving a prolonged review as there are zillions of them already out there). I was dithering between the HTC HD2 but M@rtyns comments on Windows Mobile 7 made my mind up for me (although I just read yesterday that Nokia and Intel are going to collaborate and create a new hi-spec mobile OS). So i'll have to cast my vote for Maemo and none of the 4 on the list ![]() Bill |

For more info about Windows Phone 7 Series, there is an EXCELLENT in-depth report on it over at Engadget.com

![]() @SmithBill.... Would love to hear about your thoughts on Maemo and the Nokia N900. Maybe not so much a review as a comparison of the two Operating Systems and how the hardware compares too. My contract has another year to run, so by the time my next phone decision has to be made WP7S will already be on the market. And from now until then, I expect a few changes in the functionality of WP7S (MS have said at MWC that WP7S as it was displayed is still a beta). For some reason, Android doesn't appeal to me. iPhone, currently, is too "restrictive" and Blackberry is not even on the cards. And, no doubt, XDA-Devs will conjure up stuff for WP7S in the future. So, I shall wait and see. |
